Timecho is A New Partner in Bosch Rexroth's ctrlX World!

STUTTGART, Germany, September 27, 2022 -- Timecho, founded by the creators of Apache IoTDB, has become a new partner of Bosch Rexroth in the automation ecosystem crtlX World. Industrial users will soon be able to benefit from Timecho's time series solutions.

For many users, the automation ecosystem is the ideal starting point for developing IoT use cases. Bosch Rexroth opens up a common world for users and partners: ctrlX World is the ecosystem around ctrlX AUTOMATION. And ctrlX CORE is the heart of the ctrlX AUTOMATION platform and the nucleus for industrial control systems of the future. The compact, flexible and industry-suitable control platform ctrlX CORE solves approx. 70 % of all general automation tasks and saves up to 50% of space in the control cabinet compared to conventional control platforms, and allows users to assign additional functions to the control with ease in the form of apps. Timecho optimizes data management for industrial IoT scenarios and is bringing time series solutions to enhance the ecosystem.

The basis of the solutions is the time series database Apache IoTDB. It now supports industrial customers in realizing applications even faster. "Our time series database has already proven itself in many applications in industry because it is lightweight and deeply integrated into the industrial software ecosystem including Apache PLC4X, Kafka, Spark or Grafana," explains Dr. Julian Feinauer, technical director of Timecho for the European market.

In interaction with the other companies in the crtlX World ecosystem, Timecho has developed new use cases for machine manufacturers and operators. "Our data model is specialized for industrial IoT use cases and therefore offers extreme performance and can also manage with limited resources, " assures Dr. Xiangdong Huang, founder of Timecho and the PMC Chair of the Apache IoTDB Community. Besides the wide implementation on central servers of data centers, Apache IoTDB also runs smoothly on edge-devices.

In the past, Apache IoTDB was mainly used by energy suppliers and infrastructure providers. Now the interest in plant and mechanical engineering is also growing. There exist some time series databases today, yet with insufficient performance for IoT use cases. "Many users use these for IoT applications, but the growing demand could not be satisfied because the databases were originally developed for other applications," emphasizes Feinauer. Apache IoTDB was developed precisely for these use cases and is available to all users as open source software. Anyone who needs assistance, support or advice on the subject can contact the experts at Timecho.
